One day your name didn’t make me happy, Nor angry.
It was like I didn’t know you.
Like all those things we said to each other.
“We’ll always be friends,” “I’d never let you go, you know too much lol,” “you’re my best friend, ily so much.”
Didn’t matter… Not one bit.
And I guess they don’t, not anymore.
Now we’ve both left each other like an old and boring board game.
Like we never planned to move in together.
Like you didn’t tiptoe around telling me you don’t want to be my friend anymore.
You never actually said it, you said I may not be able to be friends anymore.
You just left me at the table.
All I felt was loneliness and hate that covered sadness.
One day your name didn’t make me happy, Nor angry.
I became numb.
Not because I was extremely upset about what you did.
But because those emotions didn’t serve me.
Just because you left me with bad emotions doesn’t mean I have to keep them.
I’ll keep the memories that are like an open field that has a sea of flowers.
I’ll keep the lessons you taught me.
But I don’t need the anger or sadness towards you.
We’re strangers now.
One day your name didn’t make me happy, Nor angry.
So I washed my hands and my heart of negativity for you.
We are strangers.
Strangers who know too much about the other to be strangers.
But still strangers.
That’s all we will ever be now.
