The SHS League of Legends eSports team fell short in the NYS regional championship, losing to top-rated Syosset on Dec. 13.

Syosset, which is located on Long Island, was ranked #1 in the League for the season while Schenectady finished the regular season ranked #2.

League of Legends is one of three video games the esports team plays for competition. The others are Smash Bros. Ultimate and Rocket League.

This is Schenectady High’s first year in the esport league. The team came together in September and competed weekly against other teams from across the state.

Members of the League of Legends team for Schenectady are Isaiah Moya, Tyler Fergason, Hussein Alkozaiy, Ahmed Elsiddig, Shawn Latour, Andy Ramnauth and Christopher Raffan.

Unlike other sports, eSports plays its games online. The eSports room, located near the cafeteria, is outfitted with gaming computers, gaming chairs and LED decorations.
