SHS teacher gets national board certification

Desiray Martinez, Phoenix Writer

Jennifer Stevens, one of Schenectady High School’s math teachers, has gained her National Board Certification (NBC) for teaching as of 2022.

Obtaining a certification takes very hard work, and lots of time, according to the National Board for Professional Teacher Standards (NBPTS) website. In order to obtain certification teachers must show thorough knowledge and commitment to their career.

Also gaining certification is yet another Jennifer, Jennifer Corrigan, a Pleasant Valley elementary school reading teacher. It is clear both of them have worked very hard and are very dedicated to their jobs.

Schenectady has the second highest amount of NBC teachers in New York State, with nearly 80 teachers. Only New York City has more nationally board certified teachers.
