The Schenectady Patriots varsity basketball fought a neck and neck battle against Columbia in their opening game at home Nov. 30, but won 62-60.

The Daily Gazette said it was a rough game and the victory was no breeze.

Jakiem Edge, Malakhi Hooks, Christian Gomez, Damari Holder, Quy-Maine Haggray and Kenyatu Graham were on fire and definitely showed up and showed out. Damari  scored 24 points and Quy-Maine delivered 9.

“We played as a team and we moved the ball real  good,” Damari told the Gazette. He added that everybody got their fair share of shots as well as great pressure defense.

Damari said the team was ready and prepared to play in this opening game.
