A Schenectady High Mediaworks class is a finalist in a national digital storytelling contest.
The Edit Contest is sponsored by NBCU Academy and Adobe Express. The contest asked schools across the country to submit 90 second news reports about physical, mental or financial well-being.
Three high school and middle school winners are expected to be announced by April 7.
The video was produced by the PM Mediaworks class. Marvin Chapman and Karissa Beehm were the news team on the video. They interviewed fellow students Ashur Leavitt, Devyn Flaherty, Tristan Weiss about how the arts help students’ mental health.
Mediaworks is an English elective in the SHS Musical Theater Program at Proctor’s and a part of the City As Our Campus program. Students worked on The Edit under the guidance of Proctor’s media artist Jermaine Wells and SHS teacher Roger Gaboury.
