3 quick ways to tackle motivation and self care

Maryam Ibrahim, Managing Editor

Motivation and self-care suddenly seem out of reach when Regents exams, IB exams, or even personal and academic deadlines come about. And now is the time that they all come together.

To help you get back on track, here are 7 quick ways:

If-Then

Keeping motivated and taking care of yourself can be done most effectively if they are mixed together. Establish a schedule where you tie your normal everyday tasks to your goals. For example, “Today I will Brush my teeth… Then study.”

Change

Surroundings take a big part in how you interact with accomplishments, go ahead and:

  • Change where your desk is facing.

  • Write your report in the dark.

  • Stand while you study.

Gaining a sense of change can help you accomplish your goals more efficiently.

PRO TIP: If it’s raining, work near a window or listen to rain sounds – You’ll be much more  productive.

Ask Why

Reminding yourself why you are accomplishing your goals is a good booster when you start to lose motivation. Asking why are my goals out of reach and “what can I can do to fix it?”.

PRO TIP: After asking why to start small implementing small changes,  going about them is as easy as building Legos.
